My fellow hirers and I are trying to spread the word that, sadly, the magnificent Ripley Arts Centre in Sundridge Avenue, Bromley is for sale and in danger of being demolished by a ruthless developer. We are appealing to any interested individuals with a passion for the arts to come forward to buy it and continue allow it to be run as an arts centre.
So much joy and artistic expression goes on behind its doors. Apart from my childrens’ art club, being held here, there are music exams, art, drama, tai chi, coding, pilates, tutoring, drama, dance, exercise, spanish, film, photography, art exhibitions,poetry and public speaking classes. There are musical events held in the beautiful purpose-built concert hall and it’s also a popular licenced wedding venue. The grounds are wonderful and contain a stunning sensory garden. With some updating and renovation Ripley will be even more special.
Ripley is cared for by a fantastic and dedicated team of staff on site and in the office, all of whom are now at risk of losing their jobs. The staff and the hirers all love working there because it’s such a joyful place with unique atmosphere. We are now all deeply concerned that we will lose this unique facility in our local area. Ripley is one of a kind and needs someone with a sense of public duty to step in and save this historic Victorian building from a fate that doesn’t bear thinking about.
